Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is a Title I institution that serves a diverse, low-income population from all five boroughs. Many of my students live in public housing, while others face homelessness. Their financial situations make it challenging for them to afford snacks for their children, which is where we can make a difference.
These young learners can often be quite selective about what they eat, and with the restrictions of school lunch menus, they have limited choices.
Providing them with an assortment of healthy snacks would not only support their nutrition but also encourage them to explore new tastes and make healthier eating choices. It's essential that our students have access to options that cater to their preferences and dietary needs, promoting both their well-being and academic success.
