This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
During this time of year as we prepare our students for state testing, we have extra tutoring opportunities for students before and after school. These programs are available to help assist them in being successful on their upcoming exams.
Many of my students are from low-income households and cannot afford to bring any extra food from home to eat for a snack during before and after school programs.
This project will help me to provide a snack to my students during their tutoring sessions as well as during testing. I love to give them special treat to motivate and calm them on big testing days. Little gestures to let them know they are "one smart cookie" and giving them cookies to go with a little note really helps with the anxiety of testing. They are able to calm down and focus on the task at hand.
