I have the pleasure of having such an amazing and diverse group of students. My students have been placed in a self-contained classroom for students labeled as having multiple disabilities. My students have disabilities that range from intellectual to physical disabilities, to other health impairments.
Some of the students require intensive, individualized, and frequent instruction to allow them to be as functional and independent within the community.
Some skills that are of the utmost importance are communication skills (having their own communication system), basic math skills (like number recognition), and basic literacy skills (like identifying letters or their names).
Most importantly, despite disabilities and being in a low-income area, they are great students. They are crazy, fun-loving, determined, and bright young minds. They make my day interesting and not one single day is the same. That's the life of a special education classroom, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My Project
Every kid loves some snacks, right? My kiddos love to eat and probably would all day if I let them, and I am not exaggerating!
I want my kids to have some more snacks for the classroom.
We eat lunch earlier in the day and learning minds need some fuel!
Some of my kiddos are obsessed with Pirates Booty, some are cookie obsessed, and some will eat almost anything! This project provides a variety of snacks for the children in my classroom.
