Help me give my students snacks such as various crackers, fruit snacks, granola bars, popcorn, or even the occasional cookie to help fuel bodies to fuel minds.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Due to the many challenges they face, my goal is to give them a safe, exciting, and accepting place to learn and grow.
Students come to me with basic needs that must be addressed before I can expect them to learn.
The hardest part about coming to school for some students is pretending they are okay and ready to learn, when they are not. Learning is limited when a child comes in to the classroom distracted by a rumbling tummy. They are hungry. When they are distracted by their hunger, it makes it harder for them to concentrate on what they are learning and retain that knowledge.
Unfortunately, many students are not promised a meal when they leave for the evening. Having a snack available to my students throughout the day, and before they go home, gives them something of nutritional value in their system. Once their basic needs are met, learning can become the focus for everyone.
Students often come to school hungry, so we offer breakfast to them. When students begin to feel hungry during their prime window of learning, they fixate on their hunger rather than their learning.
When a child is hungry, they cannot and will not learn what is necessary for success.
Students may need a small snack to help them make it through to lunch. Students also get hungry toward the end of the day. Having snacks readily and easily available to give out ensures me that they are getting nourishment in order to be successful throughout the school day and at home.
