Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is a Title I school (and an Equity Focus school) which means that over 70% of my students come from households where they may face food insecurity. Many of my students this year were migrants new to the country and staying in temporary shelters. Students cannot work when they are hungry and worried about when their next meal will be and if it will be enough to keep them full and focused.
This project will enable me to restock my food pantry - mostly with snacks students can take if hungry, but also with some fun candy to motivate them.
Students will be able to access the pantry to take pretzels, granola bars, goldfish or other snacks and candy like Jolly Ranchers are often used to motivate students to do their best.
This project will make an immense difference in my classroom.
