My Students
Life has become very different for me and my students. Our new normal began once the school district announced that the remainder of the last school year will be virtual. As a teacher, seeing students every day prior to this pandemic was taken for granted. I wanted to remain connected to my students during these unprecedented times. Overall, the students I service are the most fragile students.
My students want to learn but are often distracted by external stimuli and circumstances beyond their control.
The reality is that our school is situated in a poverty-stricken, crime-ridden neighborhood. Our students are often products of generational struggles they cannot readily comprehend.
My Project
The Apple Pencil will allow students who are not custom to typing on the Apple iPad to write. Students often complain that typing slows down their thought process. Therefore, since they are accustom to writing with a pencil, they will be able to use the Apple pencil to write their thoughts on the class iPad.
Our students have a long day at school.
We have tutoring until 5:30 p.m. My students eat lunch at 11:00 a.m. I am requesting these snacks so that they can have a snack to refuel them. I would like to provide these snacks so that my students can have something to eat before they go home. Many of my students rely on the meals at school as their main source of nutrients. These snacks will allow them to focus on learning and not on where they will get their next meal.
