My Project

When working with special needs students, you have to find different and unique ways to teach skills they need for their future. In our classroom we work on making choices, daily living skills, transition skills, communication skills, and so much more. It is always important to find a way to combine all these skills into one activity. Our snack cart is the perfect way to do this.

Everyone loves the chance to DoorDash their food, so why not offer it for snacks?

As part of our transition program, my students run the Shore to Please Snack Cart at our school. We sell snacks to the teachers as a way to make money for us to go on shopping trips several times a year. The students are expected to fill orders completed by the teachers, help keep the cart stocked, deliver items, and more.

Along with completing orders that will be filled in our classroom, bi-monthly, we will offer a mobile snack cart that will showcase the more popular dollar items that we will push around door to door to offer a grab-and-go snack for the teachers. This will allow us to opportunity to appeal to our staff who impulse buy. This cart will have a drawer to allow us to stock items as needed on the go and will also contain our mobile cash box. This combines work skills, educational skills, and physical skills in one fun on the move activity.
