My Project

On the Leeward Coast of O'ahu resides the densest population of Native Hawaiians in the World. Our school is comprised of 94% Native Hawaiians from this community. We have been blessed to have had the opportunity to have free school meals here on campus. But with that comes the pretense that those meals help sustain the kids we serve throughout the day.

I am requesting for snacks to help fill the tummies of our keiki so that they can focus on taking in information in class rather than worry about an unfilled stomach.

I am also requesting Legos to help them fill time and space while they are here in my class in the mornings before school and for some fun while they come after school.

I have come to realize that the older the kids get here on campus, the less space they have to be kids. They don't have a playground or recess, but what they do have, they value. I have had dozens of kids come in and play with the current lego set that I have, envisioning what they could build and leaving me a different completed camera, house, car, dragon, or anything they can think of throughout my days. At the end of every day, they take it apart and return it to the bin to start a brand new idea the next day.

Thank you for considering us here at Ka Waihona ,and thank you for partnering with us to provide our kids with snacks to keep them going throughout the day and for the legos to help keep their minds working and planning. We are so grateful!
