My Project
Working as a special education teacher in a large high school is, many days, equal parts support both academically and from a social and emotional standpoint. From that standpoint, a simple snack can go a long way in encouraging a student, to open up and chat about things that may be stressing them out. In addition, this helps to build relationships, and overall is one of the best tools for supporting student mental health that I've found. I've built some of my strongest relationships with students and helped them the most with a soda and a pack of Oreos. It's amazing how far a simple snack will go.
I've done this before and it's been a phenomenal success allowing me to build relationships with students I otherwise wouldn't have met.
This project for more snacks, will help to continue that.
