My students need hermit crabs and shells to add to our existing habitat and learn more about living creatures and plantable pencils to learn more about living plants!
My students are amazing! They surprise me each and every day and keep me learning more for them. We seriously have some of the best students in our small-town elementary school.
My students are always ready to try something new, because of that, I want to be a better teacher every day.
I want to grow with them!
Our school is over sixty percent free or reduced price lunch recipients, but together our community, parents, and staff work to get us everything we need. I am so grateful to have wonderful people like you also partnering with us to help get our students everything they so deserve.
My Project
Currently we have five hermit crabs in our classroom. While looking ahead in our life cycles unit I discovered that we would be learning about skeletons and exoskeletons. I know these clear shells and additional hermit crabs would be great for learning more about these wonderful creatures in our classroom.
My students love to discover, learn, and grow.
Why shouldn't we do hands-on projects and activities that do the same? After our life cycles unit we then begin to learn about plants and their life cycle!
I'd love for my students to use these pencils until they were too short to use and plant them in student decorated pots. They'll see the plant life cycle from start to finish! It will definitely be hands-on learning!
We would then deliver them to local businesses on Earth day! Every year we try to do a community service related project and this would be a wonderful project. Last year we delivered potted plants and it was a highlight of many local businesses year!
In addition to learning about life cycles, they will also learn about kindness, giving, and caring about our community. Let's make this project come alive!
