I am a second year teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students face many challenges daily, in and out of the classroom. My school is a Title I school in Oregon. The student population qualifies for one hundred percent free or reduced-priced lunch. With small school budgets, it is getting more difficult to provide students with fun and exciting ways to learn. By having ample supplies, students will be able to get creative with their learning and feel proud.
We need markers, crayons and construction paper to create vibrant posters to summarize our learning. The students will benefit from these supplies in so many ways! The art supplies will give them a chance to get creative with assignments and innovative with their own art projects.
With many tough standards and projects to conquer in sixth grade it's important to be able to have fun with the work the students' are producing.
It also creates a sort of pride and enthusiasm when it comes to showing work to other friends, teachers, and family at home. All of the supplies will be cherished, appreciated, and used up! Thank you again for your time and compassion towards our classroom community!
