This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students do not have dental insurance; thus, they do not visit a dentist regularly to learn about proper dental hygiene. I will use the mouth prop to teach a lesson on proper brushing and flossing. I will engage students by involving them as well in the brushing of the mouth prop.
These oral hygiene items will help motivate and educate my students on the importance of good oral hygiene.
Students will learn how to properly brush and floss on their own teeth. They will each receive a kit with a toothbrush, floss and toothpaste. We will have practice sessions at school. Students will use the mirrors so they can see if they are brushing correctly.
Students will empower themselves and help educate their families on the topic, as well.
