Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A picture is worth a thousand words. It also helps to create a thousand different ways to communicate with each other and the world around us. Can you help my fourth graders to create and learn through photography?
I teach a group twenty four very enthusiastic fourth graders in a southern California urban area.
My students are very creative and I am always looking for unique and entertaining ways to challenge and expand their learning with fun and creative projects.
My Project
Currently our focus in Language Arts has been on expanding our vocabulary. For my class of mostly English language learners vocabulary can be a challenge. With our new cameras the class will be able to take pictures that relate to the new words they are learning then use the pictures to make their own personal picture dictionaries. We also will be able to make a class yearbook with the pictures they take.
The new cameras will help my students not only in Language Arts but in Art/Photography class as well.
Is the next Ansel Adams or Annie Leibowitz a fourth grader today? Only time will tell!
