it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in an amazing NYC school in the Bronx. I teach fabulous 5th graders that are the world to me. They are so sweet, so kind, and so thoughtful. They strive to learn and inspire me every day with their passion, humor, and affection.
My Project
Teaching pre-teens is not just about academics but also about teaching basic life skills. Hygiene is a major topic in our classroom as our students are growing and developing into young adults.
Unfortunately, some of our students do not have access to personal hygiene products at home.
Putting together mini hygiene packs that contain the essentials such as deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and for our teen girls, feminine pads, can help raise awareness of the importance of taking care of our bodies. Providing students with hygiene products can also help boost their self-esteem and make them feel comfortable around others.
