My Students

Teaching in the 21st Century means using technology. Teaching the minds of young children means giving them hands-on exploration. They need it to be successful in their educational journey. Therefore, I need to have the tools to teach them. The software in this project will be a great start.

Curious, inquisitive, precious; these are words I would use to describe my class full of Kindergartners.

Our school is a Title One school, where more than half of the student population receives free or reduced lunch. Our class has an array of different races, social classes, and backgrounds that add to the uniqueness of their personalities. They have two things in common: they love technology and are eager to learn. Every time the Smartboard is turned on, I have their undivided attention.

My Project

In this, the 21st Century, technology knowledge is a must. To advance in education a child must be technology literate. However, many of the children in my classroom have been identified as at-risk due to their low income/poverty stricken homes, therefore many do not have access to computers outside of the classroom. Not only does my classroom have computers for them to use daily but we have access to a SmartBoard. Students today are digital learners who are excited and motivated by the technology surrounding them. The software I have requested will be used by the students to increase their reading and math skills while acquiring new technology skills with the Smartboard. By supporting this project you will allow my students the opportunity to grow and learn as they become life-long learners. You will provide them with materials needed to master skills necessary for their success in the future.

Smartboard activities are changing education because they align neatly with the goals and purposes of education in a digital age.

Most importantly, learning from these Smartboard activities, particularly in the 21st century, will bring about 21st century skills needed for tomorrow's jobs.
