Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine walking in an elementary school that has 1,100 students. You see 6 large buildings that surround a blacktop playground with no grass and very little trees. You walk into one of twelve first grade classrooms and see three very old computers sitting in the corner that may or may not work properly. This is my world. I teach first grade and often the students that comes through my door are like a box of chocolates. Some that walk in the door with skills, some with little or no skills, and some may or may not speak English. However, all are lovable!
My obstacle this year has been getting the students to become motivated students. Education is not a priority to them. The students’ learning style are more hands on and visual. Our curriculum is more teacher centered rather than student centered and rarely is it hands on.
In order to both motivate my students, increase their knowledge of technology, and to make learning more hands on, I have decided to purchase a smart board for my class. Therefore, I need the bluetooth wireless to help set up the interactive classroom that I would like to create for my students. Through your help I can teach my students to use technology and to highly motivate them. I can't wait for the lessons to come alive!
