Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Twenty-five marvelous multi-leveled children make up my classroom community. Each day is full of possibilities for these future leaders. Encouraging each child to strive and reach their fullest potential is my classroom goal.
All children can be successful, maybe not the same day, maybe not the same way, but all children can be successful learned.
Our school is classified as a low socioeconomic campus; 69 percent of our children are on free and reduced lunch. Of my 25 second graders, 17 are severely below grade level, reading on a pre-kinder level. Four have other unique learning challenges, 1 is identified as a Gifted learner and 2 are English Language Learners. Each of my 25 students deserves to reach their fullest potential.
My Project
These two iPads will allow my students access to limitless horizons. All students can check out and read electronic books. Struggling learners will be able to access, read and listen to appropriately leveled stories. Readers will be able to share their favorite stories and recommend books through the record feature found on the iPads. Children will be able to research our National Symbols and Landmarks. Virtual field trips will take students places they have dreamed of exploring.
My students are anxious to grasp the 21st century; let's face it, technology is the way of the world.
Yet, so many children have little to no access to this much needed tool in this Age of Information. These iPads will allow children to enjoy learning through interactive games. Children will play math and reading games that will teach as well as assess on individual levels.
This much needed technology will also allow me more time for individualized instruction.
