My Students

Our school is nestled in a beautiful community. Nonetheless, we serve a growing population of diverse needs. We receive Title I funds to support students who are at-risk of failing due to homelessness and low-income. Many of our students are low academic achieving and need support to tackle curriculum challenges. They deserve the opportunity to engage in learning experiences that encourage their creativity, develop critical thinking, logic and use of imagination.

Students are excited to try new ways of learning.

Although it is often a struggle to get them to communicate with academic language, I have discovered their passion for sharing their thoughts and learning to express their feelings through Google Classroom assignments, Powerpoint, and learning apps. They express creativity and are less reluctant about persistent effort when using technology. It is my belief that through STEAM activities, such as science camp, theatrical performances, music, and public speaking, students will grow and develop into life long learners. I've come to recognize that each students potential is endless!

C.S. Lewis said, "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending."

My Project

The use of electronic equipment, such as an iPad and stylus, will give students the mobility and flexibility to present their STEAM research findings.

Students will be able to structure their presentations with greater confidence while developing public speaking skills.

They are currently working in small groups to read, discover, and understand science and ancient civilizations. They are also being challenged to incorporate art, theatrical monologues, and music into various presentations. Therefore, these materials will allow them to guide their audience to various experiences of learning related to their research, presentations, and experiments.

Students are showing tremendous interest in the interrelatedness of multiple subjects and learning how it works in their world. It is my hope that these pleasurable academic experiences will encourage them to believe that they can do and be anything.
