My Students

Our art students come from a variety of socioeconomic, cultural, and artistic backgrounds. Some of our students come to us and have never created art. I work hard to incorporate art creation, aesthetics, art history, and art criticism into my students' lessons and make it my personal goal for these kids to enjoy walking into the art room to create! In our art room, we make connections to the core areas (math, reading, social studies, science and writing) so students see that art connects to many parts of our lives.

Our art students are always creating, doodling, drawing, sculpting, folding, carving, critiquing, analyzing, comparing and learning!

We are a busy classroom!

My Project

Middle school students love to eat. They are often hungry during the school day. Our art room is a community. We talk, we create, we make and do.

When students are not hungry, they are more focused, there are less behavior issues, and they are able to focus on their creative work!

I would love to be able to provide snacks and warm beverages to my students during this long Wisconsin winter. Students could make a warm cup of hot chocolate or hydrate with water and electrolyte drink mixes while we work on our art. What a treat! Sometimes students stop in over lunch, between classes, or before they jump on the bus and are hungry. I'd love to be able to provide a granola bar or a quick snack - it may be just the motivation they need to make it through the day! Help me feed my Bears!
