I have an amazing group of Third graders that come to school every morning eager to learn! I am amazed every day by their creativity, compassion, and thoughtfulness. They thrive when given hands-on activities, individualized tasks, and little motivation!
Our school is nestled in rural West Virginia.
Many of my students come from low social economic families and are lacking in opportunities and experiences outside of our school building. We are a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free or reduced price lunch.
A Smart TV in my classroom would take the place of an obsolete projector that no longer fulfills the needs of my students. It would allow me to project examples and modeling from our classroom document camera. A TV would also give me the ability show the students presentations or supplemental videos relating to our everyday lessons. The students would have a blast getting to participate in Brain Breaks on a Smart TV in between lessons.
Most importantly, it would give my students the opportunity to display their work and projects with their peers.
The students frequently create Word documents and Powerpoint presentations that they could take ownership of with a Smart TV. Giving presentations at a young age would be an invaluable skill for my students to have in the 21st century!
