Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students who will benefit from this project is a combination of 10th, 11th, and 12th graders from a Title 1 school in west Texas. This is a group of very dedicated students who are working to graduate from high school and have been attending college courses since freshmen year in order to earn an associates degree before graduating from our school.

Our students have expressed an interest in learning about how to manage their money and prepare for adult life.

New generations need to learn about loans, insurance, taxes, credit cards, credit score, and budgeting as early as possible.

My Project

My Financial Mathematics class is composed of 12 students ranging from 10th-12th grade. The book "Smart is the New Rich, a Money Guide for Millenials" is a book that will be read and discussed in class, as a supplement to the content being taught.

I would like my students to be able to keep the book with them, so that this can serve as a guide for their immediate future as young adults.

This book will be an excellent asset to any young adult trying to start a life without falling into debt since it covers topics such as, budgeting basics, college investment, managing debt, job marketing, millenials at work, house money, family money, investments, credit.
