Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach English as a Second Language students and they are a terrific group of hard-working learners. I work with small groups of students building their reading, writing, listening, speaking, and confidence-building strategies so they are able to participate in their general education classrooms just like their peers.

COVID has impacted my students because they were unable to practice their skills with their peers.

The distance learning model we used made it difficult for them to participate without putting a spotlight on their deficits with the English language. We are a much happier and successful bunch now that we are completely an in-person school.

My Project

My students will be able to fulfill their technology standards along with their English learning standards by working in a small group to create and publish digital products (2.A.2.1) through interaction and collaboration which are essential skills for English learners with these Chromebooks. We will create books that the students write and read/record for future learning.

My students will be able to navigate age-appropriate software to build their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

(6.B.2.1) We will have access to programs that will build on the foundations of the English Language.

They can also communicate information and ideas to their peers and families using digital text and illustrations. (2.B.2.1) We can create a newsletter spotlighting our academic and personal successes.
