My Project
My students all come to me at varied learning levels in math, reading, and writing. In order to ensure that each student in a group of twenty-five has the same opportunity to have focused instruction, I need to provide organized, small group activities that allows students to foster collaboration, build confidence, and experience independent learning.
Organized small groups ensure that all students receive a balance of direct instruction, independent work, and collaborative learning.
All of the items on my list will directly support the creation and upkeep of rotating small group and individual daily centers.
Frames, timers, staplers, and similar items will support the creation of the centers, while the buzzers, stool, and roving desk will aid in the day to day implementation of the centers. Finally, the Cuisenaire rods and headphones will be instrumental in the hands-on engagement aspect of small groups.
My students deserve the chance to have access to the same manipulatives, activities, and learning chances as students in any other state, city, or district.
