The furniture in my classroom is mostly student desks and chairs, although I have a plethora of space. I want to create an environment they are excited to come to that feels inviting. Also, providing them a space where they feel more comfortable and engaged in their learning.
The saucer chairs and table will allow students to use the collaborate and work together in a new comfortable way.
Fourth graders are full of energy and benefit from having choices in how and where they sit. Flexible seating helps students focus better by allowing them to choose a space that makes them feel comfortable. This freedom can improve attention, reduce behavior issues, and create a sense of independence. I currently have two of these saucer chairs and every day I have students BEGGING me to "sit in the library" to work with their group. Adding a table will improve our space immensely.
What makes them special is that they have their unique learning styles, their diverse backgrounds, and their individual character traits. Encouraging and giving them series of opportunities can help them excel and boost their performance not only in the classroom but as community contributor as well.
