My Students
I work with 5th graders who have emotional disabilities. What I love about my students is that despite their disability, when they build great relationships with their peers and the staff in our program, they demonstrate so much creativity and other intelligence. My students can experience so much more of their intelligence with the proper resources. When engaged in independent work, my students can be easily distracted or become overwhelmed with tasks that may be too challenging for them. When the assignments are engaging, students can focus better on the task at hand.
My Project
With an easel, I can model work on the board for students in a small group area. Also, students come to the board to model work that will be used to monitor what the student knows or is struggling with. Students may also benefit from working with a peer to help in group lessons. Ongoing progress monitoring for students is not only helpful for the student but also helpful for the teacher to know what skill is grasped or still needs additional time for teaching on a daily basis.
