This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am looking forward to meeting my new Kindergarten bunch!
Based on my last two years of teaching, about half of my Kindergarten students are English language learners.
Eighty percent of my students have entered Kindergarten with limited or without previous experience with books, writing or drawing. They struggle with lowercase/uppercase letter and letter-sound recognition. In math, they struggle with number recognition and with one to one correspondence to the number 10.
To foster learning and support my students, my goal in planning this year will revolve and focus on embedding literacy in all subjects. I have thoughtfully and carefully selected materials that I can especially use to model for students’ whole class, for students to use independently and with peers, across all activities and centers. I have also added digital resources to supplement this goal as well as spark social-emotional learning opportunities.
One reason among the millions of reasons that I love to teach Kindergarten is the amount of progress my little ones make in one year.
Thank you for considering me.

My Project
All of these supplies will be used as centers and/or supported small group work. Students needs repeated and extensive practice to retain letter and sound recognition as well as counting.
The CVC crayons will be used to help students practice blending sounds to make words.
Students will use the letter blocks to create words. The sequence train will be used to help students count up and in order,
Time is built into each day for students to practice skills taught and these materials will provide additional resources for students to use and share.
I believe having exposure to these additional resources will help student's continued progress.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
