My Students
My students come from a variety of different economic and cultural backgrounds. In my classroom alone, students speak a multitude of languages including Bengali, Mandarin, Chinese, Pashto, Spanish and Arabic. We are a self- contained, ENL (English as a new language) classroom, made of the most eager and wide-eyed 5-year-olds!
As diverse as my students are, economically and culturally, they are just as diverse in their academic needs as well.
My students language acquisition levels vary from entering to transitioning. It is incredible to see a child learn a language within a few short months!
My Project
My students would benefit greatly from a small group work table! With this table, I will have the opportunity to meet with a small group of students, multiple times a day, to reach all of their individual needs. Working on guided reading, guided math, and guided writing, I can picture it now!
I am excited to see major improvements in my students reading, writing, and math skills, with the use of this small group work table.
We will have a private, quiet area, where my students will feel comfortable and confident to grow academically, socially, and emotionally! The possibilities are endless!
