My Project
Small group work is an essential part of learning in my classroom. Students work collaboratively during math and science every day. After a whole group lesson, students are divided into groups based on what they need to further their learning. They receive extra guidance and practice with certain skills and are able to receive more individualized instruction.
My students benefit from small group work because it gives them a space to practice academic and social skills.
Not only do they practice necessary math and science skills, but they also practice their communication skills. Students learn how to effectively explain their thinking to their peers. They practice listening to other perspectives in order to further their thinking. The kidney table and chairs will give students a designated space to work in small groups. My goal for this project is to give students the opportunity to further their learning in a comfortable and efficient environment. My students are very hard workers with amazing ideas who should learn in an environment suited to their needs.
