This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Small group work with a teacher is extremely beneficial for students who have individual needs such as redirection or reteaching. English Language Learner students perform better in a small group and this table would be perfect to work on with students.
Small groups are usually 6 students which is easier to teach during center time.
Center time is when different groups of students are practicing 1 skill. For example, a group of 4 students would be doing writing, another group of 4 students would do partner reading, and another group of 6 would be with the teacher (me). However, because of our budget, we have used old desks and small round tables that are not conducive to learning.
Everyone has different needs and research has shown small group instruction improves academic achievement, relationships with classmates, and faculty. ENL students, or English as a New Language students, really need the support of a teacher! This donation would help my English learners immensely.
