Your contribution made it possible for me to purchase two adorable bean bag chairs for my classroom library, and I truly cannot thank you enough for your kindness and support.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, my classroom library has become a much more comfortable and inviting space for my young learners. At this age, creating a warm and welcoming environment is essential in helping children develop positive associations with books and reading. The addition of the bean bag chairs has transformed my reading area into a cozy corner where my students are excited to sit, relax, and explore stories. It has quickly become one of their favorite places in the classroom.\r\n\r\nI have already noticed a meaningful impact on my students. They are more eager to visit the library area, spend longer periods of time engaged with books, and show increased enthusiasm during interest area time. For many of my students, these early experiences with books help shape their attitudes toward reading for years to come. By making the space comfortable and enjoyable, I am helping to foster a lifelong love of reading—something that is truly invaluable.\r\n\r\nBeyond comfort, your generosity supports my broader goal of building literacy skills at an early age. When children feel relaxed and happy in a reading space, they are more open to taking risks, exploring new vocabulary, and developing comprehension skills. These bean bag chairs may seem like a small addition, but they are already making a big difference in how my students interact with books and view themselves as readers.\r\n\r\nIt is incredibly meaningful to know that members of our community and beyond are willing to invest in my students' learning and growth. Your support reminds me that education is a shared effort, and that together we can create enriching experiences that will benefit my children in lasting ways.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity, thoughtfulness, and commitment to supporting early childhood education. Your donation has made a lasting impact on my classroom, and I am so grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1764604111367,"projectUrl":"project/get-cozy-with-reading/9930761/","projectTitle":"Get Cozy With Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Osmun","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10363366"},{"teacherId":10301552,"projectId":9998687,"letterContent":"As soon as I opened the boxes and put our new STEM toys on the shelves, my students were rushing to get a turn to build with them!\r\n\r\nMany students started out just figuring out how to get the pieces to work, then moved on to building small shapes and then larger structures! \r\n\r\nThey were learning how magnets work, and created 3D shapes of all kinds. They even used other magnetic surfaces to test how strong each piece was. There was a ton of learning going on just in the first few days of sharing these toys! \r\n\r\nSome students decided to sort the materials at first and then put them together. Students from Pre-K through 5th grade are using magnetic tiles, large building blocks, and clipboards to plan, build, test, and improve their ideas. Concepts like sequencing and algorithms are no longer abstract — students can physically build their thinking and revise it in real time.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the excitement was immediate. I watched students redesign structures that kept falling and proudly explain how they \"debugged\" their work, using the same language we use in coding. Others now sketch their plans before building, thinking like real engineers.\r\n\r\nNext, we're connecting these design challenges directly to Scratch and robotics projects. One by one, most of the kids took a few minutes sitting on the bean bags, playing with a knot pillow and sensory toys! Then they tried out their new feelings chart.\r\n\r\nWhen my students are feeling a little stressed, cranky or sad, they already know they can go relax and reset in the library area with a sensory toy, a stuffed animal or a good book. They were eager to use it right away, and it has quickly become the focal point of our learning. Instead of feeling confined to notebooks or small group tables, students now gather at the board to solve math problems together, share writing ideas, and explain their thinking to the class. The larger space allows for collaboration in a way we couldn't achieve before.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far has been during a math review game, where students worked in teams at the whiteboard. They were cheering each other on, double-checking answers, and even coaching one another through tough problems. What used to feel like quiet, individual work turned into a lively, team-oriented activity that kept everyone engaged.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students have a tool that encourages creativity, teamwork, and active learning every day. Moving forward, we will be using the whiteboard as an anchor for science discussions, brainstorming for writing projects, and visualizing key concepts in social studies.
