This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a high crime area. They come to school with many disadvantages and I'm here to help change that in any small way that I can.
Have you ever seen students that hate when the end of the school day comes?
Well those are my kids. They have to be literally pushed out of the door. My students for the most part are identified gifted or highly intelligent wonderful students. They come to class enthusiastic and ready to go everyday. They rise to ever challenge that is presented to them.
My Project
I only have two laptops in my classroom and 25 students must share them on a daily basis. I pondered what could I do to compliment the two laptops. If I could add 4 tablets this would give my students the opportunity to practice like skills more often in small groups. This would definitely help us since we only have computer time once a week for 45 minutes.
These tablets will allow my students to do research, learn typing skills, do coding, practice reading comprehension skills, math activities, and most importantly participate in Literacy Academies.
These Academies are used to break kids into smaller groups so that I may better focus on their needs. One of the stations in the Literacy Academies will house these 4 tablets.
Tablets are the in thing and they create excitement in my classroom. Excitement for learning. Please find it in your heart to help our educational dreams come true.
