Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a second-year teacher, I have a lot of ideas. One area of instruction that I am excited to develop is my time at the Teacher Table with a small group of students. Every day, I pull 3-6 students at a time to work through misconceptions, provide enrichment opportunities, or keep struggling learners from falling through the cracks.
With this easel, I would be able to use multiple representations to support deeper student learning in small group instructional time.
Right now, I only have a small personal whiteboard to use during this time. There is not enough space to show a variety of strategies or invite collaboration from the students in the group. With the bigger space the easel would provide, the students would be able to work together to share their thinking and learn from each other in a safe space.
This easel would serve a population of low-income students from a wide range of cultural identities.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
