This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my second grade class, we spend a majority of both our reading and math block in small groups! In small groups, I am able to spend 20-30 minutes with a group of about 4-5 students at a time, leading to more specific teaching and intervention.

I believe small group teaching leads to successful learning in my students!

Some of the materials I have listed will help to make our small group setting more organized and efficient. I have listed stackable stools and floor cushions that are colorful for students to sit on around our class kidney table, as well as vinyl dots for each student seat around the table. Students are able to use a dry erase marker to write directly on the vinyl dots, this allows for a very quick and easy transition between groups by limiting the amount of supplies needed to be passed out! One of the most important items I am requesting is an IPad to be used in the classroom. I intend to use this device to allow for easy and accessible planning specifically in my small groups. My laptop is often connected to the Activepanel to display to students small group expectations, having an iPad would allow me to be able to monitor their online independent practice simultaneously with instruction.
