During the school day, students are frequently sitting at my horseshoe table. Students are reading and discussing a leveled book in small groups with the teacher. For writing, I’ll call students over individually or in small groups for writing conferences tailored to their needs based on what I see in their writing. In math, I’ll have students come over when they need a little more support and reteaching or if they need a little more challenge.
The horseshoe table is one of the busiest parts of my room and we need these stools because they’ll fit better than the bulky, district-provided chairs in our small group space.
As a bonus, they have colorful legs to make our class cheerful and they also are stackable which the custodians love for vacuuming.
The small bookcase is just the right size to hold reading and math games for students to play together or for our books on financial literacy and other math topics. This bookshelf matches the exact same ones we already have and perfectly fits the available space.
