My Students

Our school is an urban, public elementary charter school dedicated to students with specific language-based learning disabilities. Approximately 85% of our students have IEP/504 plans and 100% receive free/reduced-price lunch. Some students come into our school and classrooms believing that they are not smart enough. That's not true! They all have the capability of being AMAZING, they just need help honing the tools they already have and are learning.

Our students are energetic, ready to learn, and excited, despite the difficulties that they face!

Many of our students come to our school reading below grade level, and even believing that they are incapable of being readers. But that's not true! With our co-teaching classroom design, small-group instruction (6:1 student-to-teacher ratio), flexible grouping, and a multi-sensory approach to teaching, they are capable, with more than enough tools by the end of the year, to be wonderful readers, learners and young adults!

My Project

In our school, there are many learning levels included in each classroom, so I enjoy teaching in small group stations. This way, students are learning at their level, going at their own pace, and I can accommodate their needs much more easily than in a whole group setting.

Help me raise enough money for this kidney table that will benefit all of my students!

The kidney table design specifically will provide my students enough space to work on assignments individually when required, as well as together when it is best to collaborate. This table will be a wonderful addition to my classroom and provide for a comfortable work space!
