Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a Title I school in Compton. My school tries its best to provide the resources our students need to succeed. Needless to say, the funds always fall short. Teachers have to get creative with what they have. The easel pads and markers are used to make anchor charts on the content we review during small group. The copy paper is for making copies supplemental lessons.
Small-Group allows me to focus on 4 to 6 students at a time as opposed to 25.
My children love the personalized attention they receive, and I am able to provide work that is at their level during our small group time. This helps students "catch up" to their grade-level work faster, by filling in gaps when learning. During small groups, I focus on the exact topics they need reinforcement. For my more advanced students, this provides a time when I can stretch their learning.
