This is my first year as a third grade teacher in a school that I began teaching in last year. Although my class is considered a general education classroom, my students have many different abilities.
My students come from many different backgrounds but we all share the common goal of wanting to learn.
As their teacher, I am responsible for their growth and learning in math, English, science and social studies. We work in cooperative grouping all around the room every day.
My Project
I am requesting mini dry erase boards, clipboards, anchor chart markers and dry erase pocket folders in order for my students to work cooperatively in small groups and for me to easily assess them throughout a lesson. The students will use these materials during small group instruction either independently throughout the classroom or while working with me.
The white boards will help foster independence and have them take ownership of their learning.
The clipboards will be a great tool for when I have students work around the classroom. If they are sitting on the floor or in another area in the classroom, they will always have a hard surface to write on. Additionally, the dry erase pocket folders will be used for group math games. Instead of having to create multiple copies of a game, my students will be able to erase their work when they are done and have it ready for the next group of students.
