Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment is essential to help all students succeed, especially those who require additional support. Small group activities are a proven strategy to enhance student engagement, foster collaboration, and encourage hands-on learning. However, to make small group instruction truly effective—particularly for students needing intensive intervention—appropriate materials and resources are necessary.
This project seeks funding to provide small group activity materials that will be used not only for general instruction but also as a vital part of intervention strategies for Tier 3 students.
The following materials have been selected to support small group instruction and targeted Tier 3 interventions in the classroom: Whiteboard – A versatile tool for modeling lessons, visualizing concepts, and providing immediate feedback during small group sessions.
Magnets – Useful for interactive activities, organizing visual aids, and engaging students in hands-on learning tasks. Organizers – Essential for keeping intervention materials, manipulatives, and student resources neatly arranged and easily accessible during group work. Markers – For writing, drawing, and engaging students in visual learning activities on the whiteboard during interventions. These materials are intentionally chosen to create an organized, interactive, and engaging learning environment that supports differentiated instruction and intensive interventions for Tier 3 students. These students require individualized and targeted support due to significant academic challenges. Having dedicated resources for small group work will allow teachers to implement structured, research-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of these students.
Investing in this project will help close learning gaps, promote equity, and ensure that every student—regardless of their academic level—receives the support they need to thrive. With the right materials, teachers can create engaging small group sessions that strengthen skills, build confidence, and help Tier 3 students progress toward grade-level expectations.
