Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach multiple subjects in a 2nd and 3rd grade split class in a high-need school where resources are limited.
Since I teach two classes at the same time in all subjects, small group learning is key! I have students performing both below and above grade level in math and it is my goal to give them targeted instruction at their level all day, every day. Unfortunately, our school has very limited resources, especially when it comes to math. I do my very best to create as many math activities and centers, but it is difficult to keep up with, especially for two different grades. My students are brilliant and invested in math, but they do not have the materials to show off their talents and improve their skills even more.
My students need activities for our math centers that will enhance their number sense, problem solving and algebraic thinking. These centers have a specific math skill focus and target it in a meaningful and engaging way.
Your generous donation will give my students the skills they need to become remarkable mathematicians. The center activities give my students meaningful practice during the entire math block, allowing me to pull small groups and target their instruction even more. They have the talent in math, now they just need the tools to take off!
