My Project
On Fridays, we have clubs, many of the students are talking about wanting to learn how to make videos, they say they want to be a YouTuber. They all have ideas of what they want to do, but they have no idea of what goes into the work. They all think you point an iPhone and done. After much talk and discussion, they want to learn what goes into making and posting videos. If I can help them learn some skills to start a spark, this is the place to start it. All the students I work with have learning disabilities, and any career choice that involves an artistic skill is worthy of my time to help them develop their desires.
We want to give our students good choices for life careers, many are artistic and learn art skills easily, this is why video making is a positive life choice.
We want to support any safe learning skill if and whenever possible. We also want to be able to document our students going into the community and working. Showing them the interactions of what worked and what needs work is helpful. Visual representation is always helpful for our students. If we are able to get this video camera funded, this could be the opportunity of a lifetime for some of our students.
