My Project

We were so incredibly fortunate to win a class set of Narwhals for each and every student from Slumberkins before our Winter break. We have utilized the text to talk specifically about growth mindset, and students have found the affirmation message very helpful. I had many parents reach out to me to express how much they loved the story and the stuffed animal, and how helpful the curriculum components were at home as well. I have researched many different social emotional curriculum programs, and truly feel that the components provided in Slumberkins, particularly the affirmations, are a perfect fit for our classroom environment.

Our students have so many different emotions, and often struggle with the best way to express them - we teach that all emotions and feelings are valid, but students may not have the tools necessary to process big feelings.

The Slumberkins class set comes with 15 big books to support social emotional development and learning, as well as stuffed animals to help students work on and process emotions. These would be utilized daily in the classroom setting and would be used to help build a calm down corner space for students. Additionally, Slumberkins provides access to educator resources online for teachers that includes curriculum ideas and ways to implement the components successfully in the classroom.
