These tools will help students feel safe and provide an outlet for extra energy, allowing them to return their focus on learning. The hands-on materials will serve to connect what they see and hear with tactile experiences to reinforce content in math and science.
Having access to sensory materials and tools in class allows for me to provide students with regulation options, without disrupting learning.
Students can fidget with the roll-up rings, feel deep pressure from the weighted stuffed animal, and celebrate success with smelly stickers.
Scientific inquiry develops when kids continue to ask why- cycling through the process and finding ways to answer their own curiosities. The friction ramp will anchor our unit and give students a way to see the concept in action- testing new theories and learning from doing. The math cubes and game will help reinforce foundational skills needed in order to build fluency and proficiency with numbers.
