This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 9th Grade Health students absolutely love slime (and play sand and play-doh). I love it too! Slime keeps my students off their devices. When they're feeling a little bored or uncomfortable, their first instinct can be to take out a phone, or put their head down and go to sleep. Slime offers an alternative. It keeps their hands busy, meets their sensory needs, and can even be used as an effective coping strategy for students struggling with the challenging or sensitive nature of our Health content.

Slime even helps my students to show up to class on time.

Even my frequently tardy students make sure to arrive early when they know I've recently restocked the slime/fidget center. They want to make sure they can get their first choice of slime, kinetic sand, or Play-Doh.

The only problem with slime is that my students love it so much that it becomes something of a consumable. When slime is stretched and played with constantly by class after class of students, it becomes worn out or dirty and needs to be replaced pretty quickly. Purchasing replacements out of pocket gets expensive! The goal of this project is to purchase enough slime to offer my students an amazing selection that will last the entire year! I know my students will absolutely love these materials. Thanks so much for considering our project.
