My Students
My students are Honors and Advanced Placement students who are extremely hard-working and absolutely love science. They are curious about the impact of science on day to day life and using the concepts we have learned in the classroom to understand the impact we have on our environment.
When truly inspired by something, they tenaciously pursue knowledge related to it.
I have students who are very much natural born leaders. They amaze me every day with their enthusiasm for science and love of chemistry.
My Project
Following the stress of AP exams and college decisions, my students need to have a little fun during lab. They need glue, food coloring, borax and containers to make slime. The glue borax and cornstarch will be use to make bouncy balls and the left over cornstarch can be mixed with water to make oobleck.
These labs will help to remind my stressed out students that they took AP chemistry because chemistry is FUN!
They could use a reminder after the stressful two weeks where they will be taking as many as 6 AP exams. They will have fun making slime and bouncy balls and will also use some of their chemistry knowledge to figure out what reactions are happening.
