My Students
I teach an amazing group of 3rd grade students. We are a culturally diverse school with many students who are English language learners. Despite their challenges, they are very inquisitive and eager to learn.
My school is a Title I school which means most students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
We strive to meet all of their needs as they strive for academic excellence. Their tenacity to learn encourages me to create a fun learning environment so they are actively engaged in learning every day.
My Project
Learning should be fun! Students learn better when they are engaged and having fun. This project will give my students various ways to help them practice their multiplication skills while staying physically active. The basketball hoops will support their multiplication mastery. Students will be broken up into teams to play basketball. As they answer multiplication problems they will shoot the ball into the hoop. We've got the basketball and now need the hoops. The team with the most points wins!
Physical activity and learning go hand in hand.
Physical activity facilitates the birth of new brain cells and produces smart chemicals that promote learning. Incorporating kinesthetic movement into instruction makes it more engaging and motivating. Games allow students to focus well enough to learn. My students need basketball hoops get stay physically active as they learn.
Thank you for considering my project. I look forward to seeing my students master their multiplication skills while having fun learning.
