Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are happy, energetic learners who love to learn! They are diverse in their learning and possess unique personalities that keep them going every day. They have encountered a few setbacks in their learning so far but they are slowly getting the appropriate support they require to continue learning.
My students are at-risk students with special needs who qualify for free and/or reduced lunches.
They are all reading at least one full reading level below grade level, and in some cases, more. They are lucky to have parents and a school community who support their emotional needs and with the right resources, I know they will overcome their obstacles. They are bursts of energy just waiting to blossom!
My Project
Reading anti-racism books will inspire skits that can be performed to our young audience of students. The skits and costumes that will be created with these tools will help to make reading and learning more fun for students. Students and staff will create their own costumes and props to bring these student-led performances to life.
These performances are sure to spread tolerance, kindness and love.
Meanwhile students will develop their reading, speaking, and acting skills. Our class will no longer have to wait to be chosen to attend theater class. We can perform year round with the right tools.
