Skinny Tables = A Feel of Home

Help me give my students a feeling of home while in the classroom. We are going to use these skinny tables to open up the room and allow lounge seating unless we are testing. How exciting!

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am moving back to second grade. I love my kids working in groups. We have always used tables instead of desks. Now I need spray and go tables that can get nice and wet because we are headed outside to promote Earth Day every day!

I have purchased lots of comfort seating to make the classroom feel more like home.

Rather than setting in hard chairs at desks for 6.5 hours a day, I want my students to feel as if they are at home in the classroom. We will use the skinny tables to take up minimal space and open up the room for the modular sofas, extra large peanuts, yoga balls, papa san chairs, and bean bags, and let us not for get the rocking chair or the reading throne.

This project will purchase two tables and six benches. The room will be designed so that students are only at a table during a writing assignment or testing. The rest of the time they will lounge in the classroom in cooperative learning groups.

One plastic folding six foot table in black will be used for arts and crafts because we can easily clean it and then store it for future use as needed.

One Wooden top table in oak will be used as table seating. I already have three ready for this new adventure. I just need one more.

We will purchase three sets of folding black benches. This will provide us with a total of six benches. These will be used to accommodate student seating at the tables in the classroom.
