Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach in a New Orleans public school. We needed basic supplies like a globe, laminated historical maps, world maps, a map of Louisiana, and historical figures posters for this academic year. My students needed to improve their map skills and essential vocabulary on the standardized test scores. In order for my students to become successful and become great citizens of this society they will be studying history and using their map skills.

In my classroom, we need laminated world maps, and historical figures posters for this academic year.

Our students will use these needed supplies daily to work together in collaborative groups on various skills and materials. Their access to extra learning resources and materials like giant maps is very limited if they have access at all. My parents are on board, but they are swamped and working two or more jobs.

Your kind generosity will help my students feel less stressed and they will succeed. They have so much potential and are motivated to learn while working against so many barriers in our society. I want to give them as many opportunities and experiences to close all achievement and learning gaps they have.
