My students have equal parts energy and love for learning! We are blessed to have a parent in our classroom who is an experienced gardener. She and I take the kids to our school garden weekly to get down and dirty in our study of plant life! This is the kids' favorite part of the week!
I teach a class of 25 exuberant children.
They are eager to learn and I owe them all of the learning experiences I can possibly provide for them. Any good teacher knows that children learn by doing. You can't truly understand life science by reading textbooks. That is why we are creating our own class garden in the school Learning Garden. We have measured and begun construction of our circular "Rainbow Garden." (Oh look, we're doing math and science!) We are almost ready to begin planting!
My Project
Once we begin planting, we will begin our Nature Journals. This is what we need the clipboards and pencil cases for. The children will sketch what they see in our garden so they can document the changes that take place as the plants grow. They need the clipboards to lean on so they can get as close as possible to their subject matter while sketching. The pencil cases will hold all of their sketching materials. After drawing, the kids will go to our garden picnic tables to write in their journals. I know they will be so excited to see how their books develop as our garden does!
Having this project funded will make science tons of fun for my kids- as it should be!
We have an amazing school garden and with these supplies my students can get the most out of it.
