This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Leonardo, Frida, and Vincent all started with a blank canvas. Let's inspire kids to fill their own blank pages with masterpieces!

My fifth graders live in a working class and immigrant neighborhood.

Some of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, some are gifted, and all of them love to learn. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.

My Project

This year my class will be learning about great masterpieces of art. Not only will we study the artwork, but we will also read novels that focus on the masters of the art world, including Vermeer and Michelangelo. Our big project will be building a museum in our school for other students to visit. With this focus on art, my kids need a place to sketch their own masterpieces. We are asking for sketch pads that we will use when we are studying art techniques and the artists that use them. We are also asking for a Louvre Art Deck, which depicts 100 masterpieces from the Louvre Museum in Paris so my students can learn about some very famous pieces of art.

With your generous donation, my students will fill these blank pages with ideas, creations, brainstorms, and of course, art.

Who knows, maybe the next Picasso or Dali will emerge from our class! My student artists and I thank you!
